
New Delhi, February 9: India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie on Monday. President Herminie is on a six-day visit to India, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas such as maritime security and economic development.
Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the significance of this visit on the social media platform X, stating, “It was a pleasure to meet President Dr. Patrick Herminie of the Republic of Seychelles in Delhi today. As maritime neighbors, we value his support in advancing the vision of a prosperous and secure region. I am confident that his meeting with PM Narendra Modi will open new avenues for our cooperation.”
President Herminie arrived in India at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. This marks his first visit to India since taking office in October 2025, coinciding with the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Ministry of External Affairs posted on X, “Celebrating 50 years of long-standing and diverse bilateral relations between India and Seychelles. A warm welcome to President Dr. Patrick Herminie on his first state visit to India.”
President Herminie and his wife, Veronique Herminie, arrived in India on February 5 for their six-day state visit, which will conclude on February 10.
On Sunday, they arrived in Delhi from Mumbai, where they received a warm welcome. On February 9, at 9:45 AM, President Herminie met with External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar at the ITC Maurya Hotel.
Later that day, he is scheduled to meet the Vice President at 4:30 PM, followed by a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7 PM. On the following day, February 10, he will visit the Taj Mahal at 10 AM before departing from Delhi at 9:30 PM.
