Tragic Death of Biker Sparks Political Controversy in Delhi

New Delhi, February 6: The tragic death of a young biker who fell into a pit on the streets of Janakpuri has ignited a political firestorm. Saurabh Bhardwaj, the Delhi state president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), visited the accident site on Friday, making serious allegations against the Delhi police and the government.

Bhardwaj stated that the incident extinguished a family’s light, yet the police seem more focused on protecting the BJP government than uncovering the truth. After inspecting the scene, he claimed that evidence at the crime scene had been tampered with.

He raised questions about how the biker could have fallen into the pit if there were already strong barricades around it. “Did he just fly into the pit?” he asked. He noted that there was an eight-foot-high iron barricade with wires on one side of the road, while heavy iron barricades were visible on the other three sides. This led him to conclude that barricades were added later to suggest that there was no negligence on the part of the government or administration.

Bhardwaj accused the authorities of creating a deceptive structure to hide the truth. He sarcastically remarked that the government seems to want to prove that the young man opened the barricade, rode in, closed it, and then jumped into the pit to tarnish the reputation of the BJP government and its leaders.

He described this behavior as extremely shameful and insensitive. The AAP leader also alleged that the police had access to the deceased’s mobile location, which was active, yet they deleted the location information after sharing it at night, raising further suspicions. He questioned what the police were trying to hide and who ordered the heavy barricades to be placed at the scene by morning.

Bhardwaj demanded that the government immediately release the CCTV footage of the incident. He pointed out that with cameras installed at every intersection, street, and alley in Delhi, the absence of footage raises serious questions. He added that merely forming an investigation committee would not suffice, as seen in a previous case in Noida.

Regarding compensation, he stated that it cannot serve as a substitute for justice. The victim’s family should receive justice first. He accused the BJP government of providing compensation and government jobs only to the families of its workers while discriminating against other victims. Bhardwaj emphasized that this case is not just about an accident but also about accountability in governance and administration, which the government must address.
