Tragic Death in Delhi Sparks Political Controversy

New Delhi, February 7: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed deep sorrow on Friday over the tragic death of a young man who fell into a pit managed by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in Janakpuri. He accused leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of politicizing this tragedy.

Sachdeva condemned the irresponsible statements made by AAP leaders Kejriwal and Saurabh Bhardwaj, likening their behavior to that of political vultures in light of the young man’s unfortunate death.

He challenged Kejriwal and Bhardwaj to answer for nearly 100 deaths caused by electric shocks or flooding during the monsoon season in 2024, if they have the courage.

Sachdeva further stated that the Delhi BJP stands with the victim’s family, and Palam BJP MLA Kuldeep Solanki has been in constant contact with them. He ensured that the young man received all possible care during his treatment and attended the funeral.

Regarding the incident, Sachdeva noted that following a recent death in Noida, the Delhi government had become extremely vigilant. On January 24, the DJB issued a circular mandating proper barricading at every excavation site.

The circular clearly stated that in the event of any accident, the project in-charge engineer and contractor would be held responsible.

The Delhi BJP President mentioned that upon learning of the accident, Janakpuri MLA and Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood, along with DJB Minister Pravesh Verma, arrived at the scene and ordered a thorough inspection of the barricading.

He assured that if any human error is found, the responsible individual will not be spared and will be punished according to the rules.

In a separate development, Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra stated that this year’s central budget focuses on the continuous growth of the national economy and the progress of all sections of society—youth, women, the poor, and farmers—along with equal rights.

He added that it is fortunate for Delhi that provisions have been made for the Delhi-Varanasi high-speed railway corridor.
