Jaipur, February 6: The Rajasthan High Court received a bomb threat on Friday, prompting an immediate evacuation of the premises as a precautionary measure. Following the threat, the court administration alerted the police, who dispatched bomb disposal units and a dog squad to the site.
According to officials, the registrar of the High Court received an email earlier in the day claiming that three powerful RDX bombs had been planted inside the court complex. Taking the threat seriously, court proceedings at the Jaipur bench were halted immediately. Security agencies conducted thorough searches of the courtroom, judges’ chambers, and lawyers’ offices throughout the complex. After a comprehensive search yielded no suspicious items, access was reopened for lawyers and clients, allowing court proceedings to resume.
Meanwhile, as of the time of this report, a search operation was still ongoing at the Rajasthan High Court’s Jodhpur bench, with security forces investigating the entire area. ACP Chhavi Sharma stated that the situation is extremely serious, leading to the complete evacuation of the building while intensive investigations are conducted.
Advocate Gokulesh Bohra noted that the threat was reported around 11 AM, and the court complex was safely evacuated immediately, with necessary checks underway.
This is not the first incident of its kind. Last year, the Rajasthan High Court received six bomb threats, including five consecutive days of threatening emails in December, which led to repeated security alerts and disruptions in court operations.
The identity of the individual responsible for the threats has not yet been determined. Police officials emphasized that every threat is taken very seriously, and cyber and intelligence teams are working to trace the source of the emails.
Authorities mentioned that while most threats turned out to be false, they significantly strained emergency services and hospital operations. Other sensitive locations were also targeted, with seven threatening calls received at the High Court, Sessions Court, and Collectorate, alongside seven incidents reported at the prominent SMS Stadium. Jaipur International Airport received four bomb threats, resulting in heightened security, flight delays, and passenger inconvenience.
Officials have urged citizens to remain calm yet vigilant, warning that making false bomb threats is a serious criminal offense that will result in strict legal action. Due to the repeated targeting of critical infrastructure, police and administration are now working to strengthen preventive measures to ensure safety and avoid panic in the future.
