Chandigarh, February 8: The Punjab government has suspended two IAS officers, effective immediately. The decision involves senior officials Kamal Kishore Yadav and Jaspreet Singh. According to government orders, the suspensions are based on administrative grounds.
In addition to the suspensions, the government has also transferred an additional chief secretary and a joint secretary. Kamal Kishore Yadav, the administrative secretary of the Department of Industry, Investment Promotion, and Information Technology, along with Jaspreet Singh, managing director of Punjab Infotech, have been suspended without delay.
Both suspended officers will be stationed at the state headquarters in Chandigarh during their suspension period and will receive only a subsistence allowance.
Meanwhile, the opposition has criticized the government following the murder of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi in Jalandhar on Friday morning. Sukhbir Singh Badal took to social media platform X to express that Punjab’s AAP government is drenched in blood. He stated that the situation has deteriorated to the point where even the party’s own leaders are not safe within their government. The daylight murder of AAP Punjab leader Lucky Oberoi outside a gurdwara serves as evidence of this alarming trend.
He further commented, “After nine murders in the first week of the year, nearly 25 murders occurred in January 2026 alone. These incidents are happening everywhere, whether in court complexes, busy markets, wedding venues, or outside gurdwaras. Bhagwant Mann, you are not fit to remain in power for even a day.”
