Modis Official Visit to Malaysia Strengthens Bilateral Ties

Kuala Lumpur, February 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was officially welcomed at Perdana Putra during his visit to Malaysia, reaffirming the strong and enduring relationship between the two nations.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized this point, sharing details about the significance of the visit in a post on X.

Jaiswal stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an official welcome in Malaysia, confirming the strong ties that connect India and Malaysia. Our relationship is rooted in civilizational, historical, and people-to-people connections. Comprehensive discussions will aim to further strengthen our enduring friendship and robust bilateral relations.”

The formal welcome marked the official start of Prime Minister Modi’s engagements in Malaysia and highlighted the importance both sides place on their bilateral relationship. India and Malaysia share centuries-old civilizational ties, a shared history, cultural exchanges, and strong connections, particularly through the Indian diaspora in Malaysia.

PM Modi also shared glimpses of his formal welcome at Perdana Putra, showcasing the growing warmth in India-Malaysia relations.

In a post on X, he wrote, “Some glimpses from the formal welcome at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya. India and Malaysia are deepening their partnership based on trust, friendship, and shared aspirations.”

This message set the tone for his two-day visit to Malaysia, which includes high-level meetings, cultural exchanges, and engagement with the Indian diaspora.

Earlier, PM Modi highlighted the cultural ties between the two countries, particularly the role of the Tamil community in Malaysia. He noted, “A group of students from the Hindu Sangam in Malaysia sang Thirumurai devotional songs. It is commendable how the Tamil community in Malaysia has preserved and popularized its heritage over the years.”

Demonstrating a warm personal rapport, Prime Minister Modi was seen traveling with his Malaysian counterpart, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in a car as they attended a community event in Kuala Lumpur together. This gesture symbolized the deep understanding between the two leaders and underscored the friendly nature of India-Malaysia relations.
