Kuala Lumpur, February 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a visit to Malaysia, where he engaged in significant discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the delegation level. The talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations, economic cooperation, defense and security, clean energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and skill development.
Welcoming Prime Minister Modi and his delegation, the Malaysian Prime Minister expressed hope for increased collaboration across all sectors, stating, “This visit is personally very important to me.” He highlighted the need to address certain issues that were also discussed during their meeting.
Prime Minister Modi remarked that the reception he and his delegation received was exceptional and memorable. He noted that Malaysia’s culture and way of life were beautifully showcased within just a few hours, and the organization of events would always be remembered.
He reflected on the essence of friendship, saying, “What is friendship? What are its heights and depths? I am experiencing it fully, and I am very grateful for it. It is my privilege to visit Malaysia for the third time as Prime Minister, and our friendship is such that I have the opportunity to meet you for the fourth time during your tenure.”
Modi acknowledged the inspiring momentum and depth that have developed in India-Malaysia relations over the years. He stated that both countries are key partners in agriculture, manufacturing, clean energy, semiconductors, skill development, and capacity building. Additionally, defense and security cooperation continues to strengthen.
He emphasized that the true strength of their relationship lies in the people-to-people ties, noting that nearly 3 million Malaysian citizens of Indian origin serve as a “living bridge” between the two nations. Modi also had the opportunity to meet with the diaspora, describing it as a very special experience, and he observed the personal respect and affection they hold for Malaysia.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of allied nations in the fight against terrorism, affirming that the prosperity of India and Malaysia is interconnected.
Modi concluded by stating, “The core message of my visit today is clear: India wishes to elevate our relationship with Malaysia to new heights and enhance cooperation in every area.” He thanked the Malaysian Prime Minister and his team, expressing that he would always remember the splendid welcome they received.
