Government Launches Investigation After Fatal Accident in Janakpuri

New Delhi, February 6: The government has established a high-level inquiry committee following a tragic incident in Janakpuri. Cabinet Minister Pravesh Verma stated that there will be no compromise on citizen safety. Accountability will be enforced, and measures will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Minister Pravesh Verma addressed the situation on the social media platform ‘X’, saying, “The unfortunate accident at the Janakpuri Line Rehabilitation Project site has been taken very seriously. The Delhi Jal Board has formed a high-level inquiry committee to ensure a transparent investigation into the incident.”

He instructed the committee to conduct an immediate inspection of the accident site and review safety measures, including barricading, signage, and traffic management. Additionally, the committee has been tasked with verifying compliance with all safety regulations, determining accountability where negligence is found, and recommending strict corrective and disciplinary actions. Minister Pravesh Verma requested a detailed report from the committee by evening.

Home and Education Minister Ashish Sood visited the site on Friday and met with the victim’s family. He expressed his sorrow on ‘X’, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of a young man who fell into a pit during ongoing work by the Water Board on Joginder Singh Marg. I was present at the scene and met with the deceased’s family. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the entire government stand with this family in their time of grief. Instructions have been given for an investigation, and strict punishment will be meted out to those responsible.”

It is reported that a motorcycle rider allegedly died after falling into a pit on Joginder Singh Marg in Janakpuri, West Delhi. The incident occurred late Thursday night while he was riding his motorcycle. The deceased’s body and his motorcycle were found in a 20-foot deep pit. The rider was employed at a private bank.
