Jaisalmer, February 8: A fire broke out on a moving train in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on Sunday, causing panic among passengers. Officials reported that there were no casualties, and the fire has been extinguished.
The incident occurred beneath a coach of the Swarn Nagari Express, which was traveling from Delhi to Jaisalmer, near the Jetha Chandan railway station.
An official stated that the locomotive pilot, sensing danger, wisely stopped the train at a safe location, averting a major disaster. Once the train halted, railway staff promptly began extinguishing the flames. Utilizing fire extinguishers and other available resources, they managed to control the fire within a short time. Passengers experienced some anxiety during the incident.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. After the fire was extinguished, the train resumed its journey to Jaisalmer. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation has been initiated, with further updates awaited.
This incident follows a fire that occurred on January 14 in a coach of the Sabarmati Express at the Pokhran railway station, just before the train’s departure. Smoke was observed coming from one of its coaches while it was on the platform.
Railway staff and security personnel present at the station acted swiftly upon receiving reports of the fire. They worked diligently to control the flames using fire-fighting equipment.
After the fire was extinguished, railway officials conducted a thorough inspection of the affected coach. Following an initial safety check, the train was permitted to continue to its destination. There have been no reports of injuries or property damage related to this incident.
