Explosion at Gwalior Factory Injures Five Employees

Gwalior, February 5: A severe explosion occurred on Thursday evening at a railway spring manufacturing factory near the Sithouli railway station in Gwalior district. Five employees sustained injuries, with two reported in critical condition.

The incident took place between 6:30 and 7:00 PM when a fire suddenly ignited in the factory’s LPG pipeline. The explosion was powerful enough to shake the entire unit, causing panic among the workers.

The injured employees have been identified as Kaushal Srivastava, Yogesh, Shabbir, Hemant Chaube, and Amar Singh. All five were promptly admitted to nearby hospitals, with current reports indicating they are receiving treatment at ITM Hospital in Gwalior.

Doctors at ITM Hospital stated that all injured workers were brought in as emergencies. Among them, two have serious injuries and are under close monitoring and treatment.

Initial reports suggest that negligence in handling the LPG pipeline system may have led to the incident. However, the exact cause of the fire and explosion has yet to be determined.

Senior officials at the factory have not commented on the incident. Shakti Singh Yadav, the station house officer of Jhansi Road police station, reported that a police team arrived at the scene immediately after the explosion to conduct an inspection. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

Technical experts and forensic teams are also set to inspect the site. According to police officials, a thorough investigation will be conducted to ascertain the precise cause of the accident.

Local administration has instructed the factory management to fully cooperate with investigative agencies and ensure proper medical care and financial assistance for the injured employees and their families.

Industrial safety experts emphasized the need for factories dealing with LPG and other hazardous gases to strictly adhere to safety protocols, conduct regular maintenance of pipelines, and provide mandatory safety training for employees.
