Earlier, on World Cancer Day, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the ‘Jan-Jan Jaage, Cancer Bhagaye’ campaign at the NDMC Convention Center alongside Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Pratap Rao Jadhav.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that serious illnesses like cancer affect not only the body but also a person’s mental strength, self-confidence, and the economic stability of the entire family.
She stressed that the fight against cancer should not be limited to treatment alone; it requires collective societal support and human sensitivity.
CM Rekha Gupta noted that Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are gradually becoming the backbone of primary health services in Delhi. Currently, around 350 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs operate in the capital, offering free screenings for oral, breast, and cervical cancers, along with medications, vaccinations, and essential testing facilities.
She mentioned that the Ayushman Bharat scheme has provided health security to millions across the country, with over 430 million people registered so far. Many residents of Delhi are also benefiting from this scheme.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that over 16,000 Jan Aushadhi centers have been established nationwide, where many medicines are available at up to 90% lower prices. These centers are continuously expanding in Delhi to ensure affordable and quality medicines reach the public.
CM Rekha Gupta stated that the central government has allocated a budget of ₹10,000 crores for major central hospitals in Delhi—AIIMS, Safdarjung, and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
This funding will strengthen the medical infrastructure, provide modern equipment, and enhance facilities, ensuring patients receive better, accessible, and respectful treatment. She affirmed that the Delhi government will stand firmly with all institutions working in public service and health.
