Quetta, February 5: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has announced its claim of seizing a Pakistani Army camp located in the Ahmed Wal area of Nushki district, Balochistan. This follows a previous assertion by the group regarding their takeover of a local military installation in the Galangur area of the province. Local media reported this development on Wednesday.
The second phase of the BLA’s ‘Operation Heroof’ has now reached its fifth consecutive day. During this period, internet and train services have been disrupted across various parts of the province, affecting major public events.
According to The Balochistan Post, there were fresh explosions and heavy gunfire near a camp of Pakistani forces close to the Nushki bus terminal late Tuesday night. This incident occurred amid ongoing conflicts related to the BLA’s Operation Heroof.
Residents reported hearing loud blasts and continuous gunfire in several areas of the city, heightening the atmosphere of fear among civilians who are already confined to their homes.
Local residents have accused Pakistani security forces of deliberately targeting densely populated areas, raising concerns about potential civilian casualties. However, due to strict restrictions and disruptions in communication services, independent verification of these claims has proven difficult.
The latest developments come after the BLA announced coordinated attacks at multiple locations under Operation Heroof. The organization claims that assaults have taken place in at least 12 other cities in Balochistan, including Quetta and Nushki.
While officials have stated that the situation is under control, reports from Nushki suggest a different reality on the ground.
Meanwhile, the BLA’s official media channel, Hakkal, has released the identities and images of two of its suicide bombers. A video has also surfaced showing a female fighter participating in attacks against Pakistani forces.
According to the BLA’s statement, one of the identified suicide bombers is named Siraj Baloch, a resident of the Buleda area in Kech district. The organization claims that on January 31, Siraj Baloch carried out a vehicle-borne IED attack on a major Pakistani army camp located in the Tumk Pullabad area.
The BLA emphasized that Siraj Baloch’s actions were not a spur-of-the-moment decision but rather a reflection of long-standing ideological commitment.
Since the initiation of the second phase of Operation Heroof on January 31, the BLA has claimed that numerous Pakistani soldiers have been killed or injured.
BLA spokesperson Ziyand Baloch described this as a “declaration of decisive resistance,” stating that the new phase of Operation Heroof is directed against the “occupying state and all its military and administrative structures.”
