Weather Fluctuations in NCR Impact Health and Air Quality

Noida, February 6: The weather in the National Capital Region (NCR) is experiencing significant fluctuations. Cold winds during the morning and evening have increased the chill, while the daytime brings intense sunlight and rising temperatures, adversely affecting public health.

As a result of these dual weather conditions, many people are falling ill with cold, cough, fever, and viral infections. Hospitals and private clinics have reported a nearly 30% increase in patients suffering from weather-related illnesses. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, fog may persist in the mornings over the coming days in the NCR.

The weather forecast on the department’s website indicates that on February 6, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 23 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 9 degrees. Humidity levels are projected to range between 95% and 55%, with light fog anticipated. On February 7, temperatures are expected to be 24 and 11 degrees, while February 8 may see temperatures of 23 and 10 degrees Celsius, along with moderate fog.

Currently, no weather warnings have been issued. However, strong winds have also affected air quality. The dispersion of pollutant particles due to the winds has led to a slight improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI). Despite this, the AQI in various areas of Noida remains in the poor category, though conditions have improved slightly. The AQI readings are 243 in Sector 125, 168 in Sector 62, 228 in Sector 1, and 207 in Sector 116.

In Ghaziabad, the AQI is recorded at 245 in Indirapuram, 294 in Loni, 213 in Sanjay Nagar, and 254 in Vasundhara. Experts warn that the combination of fluctuating temperatures, cold mornings and evenings, and daytime heat can be particularly dangerous for children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing Health conditions. Doctors recommend that people wear warm clothing in the mornings and evenings, stay hydrated, and exercise caution when going out in the sun.
