Mathura, February 7: A tragic road accident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, has resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals. The incident occurred late at night in the Surir police station area. District authorities have held the bus driver responsible for the crash.
Mathura’s District Magistrate, C.P. Singh, expressed his sorrow over the incident. He informed a News agency that six people were crushed and died on the spot. One person was injured but is now out of danger following treatment.
The District Magistrate stated that the bus driver improperly parked the vehicle on the Yamuna Expressway. Some passengers had exited for a restroom break, while others stood in front of the bus. A container truck collided with the bus from behind, causing six individuals to be trapped underneath, resulting in their deaths.
Five of the deceased have been identified, and their families were notified overnight. The entire administration stands in solidarity with the affected families. Legal action will be taken against both the bus and container drivers involved in the incident.
Mathura’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Shlok Kumar, reported that around 2:45 AM, a bus traveling from Delhi to Kanpur stopped by the roadside near milestone 88 on the Yamuna Expressway. Passengers disembarked for a restroom break when a speeding container truck struck the bus, also hitting nearby passengers. Six people died at the scene, and one was injured.
The SSP confirmed that the injured individual is receiving the best possible medical care. Families of the deceased have been informed about the accident. He added that an FIR is being filed by the police, and further action will follow.
