Police Encounter with Notorious Criminal in Greater Noida

Greater Noida, February 7: A police encounter occurred late Friday night in the Ecotech-3 area of Greater Noida, involving a notorious criminal. During the exchange of fire, the suspect was injured and has since been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The injured criminal has been identified as Sanjeev, also known as Sunny or Rocky, son of Ashok, a resident of Tiloti village in the Sasni area of Hathras district. According to police reports, he has a long criminal history and is wanted in numerous theft and robbery cases across several districts.

On February 6, the Ecotech-3 police were conducting checks for suspicious individuals and vehicles near the Jalpura power station. They noticed a suspicious Honda City approaching and signaled for it to stop. However, the driver attempted to evade capture by turning the vehicle around. The chase ended when the car became stuck in water. Realizing he was cornered, the suspect opened fire on the police.

In self-defense, the police returned fire, injuring the suspect in the leg, causing him to fall. The police then apprehended him at the scene. A search revealed stolen items in his possession, including a chain, a wall clock, clothing, a makeup kit, a Honda City car (registration number UP 16 AJ 1757), a .315 bore pistol, and both a live and spent cartridge. Initial investigations suggest that the recovered items are stolen.

According to police records, Sanjeev, also known as Sunny, has over 27 criminal cases registered against him in various police stations in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Aligarh, including charges under the NDPS Act, theft, robbery, and burglary. Authorities believe that further questioning of the suspect may lead to the revelation of additional theft incidents.
