Police Crack Down on Cattle Smuggling in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, February 8: Authorities in Madhya Pradesh have launched a major crackdown on gangs involved in cattle smuggling. Police have seized 141 cattle and other animals, leading to multiple arrests across various locations.

In a significant operation, police stopped a suspicious 16-wheeler truck on the four-lane highway in the Naogaon area of Chhatarpur. During the search, they discovered 45 cattle crammed into the vehicle, exceeding its capacity.

Three suspects were arrested in this operation. Similarly, in Anuppur, the Kotma police confiscated 22 buffaloes from another truck. They also seized a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the suspects. The total value of the confiscated items is estimated to be around 2.6 million rupees. In Seoni, police seized a container vehicle and rescued 27 cattle being transported illegally.

In another operation, police freed 39 cattle that were being smuggled in a different vehicle. In Khargone district, four cattle were rescued in two separate incidents. Additionally, Umaria police seized a pickup truck and liberated four cattle from traffickers.

Actions have been taken under the animal cruelty Act and the Motor Vehicle Act. The issue of cattle slaughter in the capital has gained significant attention, prompting police to intensify their efforts against those involved in the smuggling of cattle and other animals. This recent wave of operations reflects the ongoing commitment to combat illegal activities in the state.
