Opposition MPs Reach Government Benches, Ram Gopal Yadav Reacts

New Delhi, February 5: Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav has responded to the incident where opposition members reached the government benches in the Lok Sabha. He stated that if this occurred, it is inappropriate.

The Lok Sabha session faced disruptions due to uproar from the opposition, leading to multiple adjournments. Several opposition members stood up from their seats and advanced to the government benches, causing Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s address to be postponed.

On Thursday, Ram Gopal Yadav remarked, “The Prime Minister should have spoken. If that did not happen, it is against democracy. Preventing anyone from speaking is wrong. Parliament is meant for speaking, discussing, debating, and asking questions.”

However, Congress Rajya Sabha member Pramod Tiwari defended the protesting opposition members. He noted that there have been many instances in democratic history where MPs have approached the government benches. “Our MPs have continued to do so as before,” he stated.

Tiwari also emphasized that the Prime Minister is elected and that his council of ministers is collectively responsible in the Lok Sabha. He criticized the Prime Minister for lacking the moral courage to face the public and Parliament, especially after the India-U.S. trade agreement and the release of M.M. Narayan’s book.

Furthermore, the Congress leader remarked that the history of the country’s democracy has been tarnished. The Prime Minister was supposed to respond to the President’s address but has disrespected it, diminishing the dignity of the presidential office.
