Patna, February 9: Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has sharply criticized the NDA government over the recent rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Darbhanga district. He expressed grave concerns about the prevailing lawlessness and disorder in the state.
In a social media post, Yadav stated that a six-year-old girl in Darbhanga was brutally murdered after being raped. He lamented that there is no one to listen to the victims and the poor in Bihar. The police have recorded unprecedented failures, with low conviction rates and the Chief Minister’s apparent ignorance of these alarming incidents, prompting the public to take to the streets. Yadav emphasized that chaos and disorder are rampant, with the law and order situation deteriorating. The public is suffering under the alliance of criminals and ruling leaders, as incidents of rape and murder of women have surged in recent times.
Yadav also released a list detailing crimes against women in various districts, including Khagaria, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Kaimur, Munger, Motihari, Katihar, and Sonpur, alongside the murder of a NEET student in Patna.
He claimed that rapists, murderers, and criminals are emboldened under government protection. Ministers in the government openly acknowledge state-sponsored crime, and the situation of lawlessness and disorder is alarming. He described the Chief Minister’s silence as dangerous and criminal.
In response to the incident in Darbhanga, the Congress party also accused the Nitish government, stating that the true face of lawlessness in Bihar is becoming evident. They noted that justice has yet to be served for the NEET student, and now another daughter has fallen victim to predators. The government appears to prioritize suppressing dissent over addressing crime.
Meanwhile, a large number of people gathered on the streets of Darbhanga to demand justice for the girl. Police attempted to disperse the protesters, leading to heated exchanges. In an effort to clear the roads, police resorted to baton charges, while enraged protesters retaliated by throwing stones at law enforcement.
