Nitish Kumars Alliance with BJP Criticized by Hussain Dalwai

Mumbai, March 6: The sudden decision of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to join the Rajya Sabha has sparked significant debate in political circles. Questions arise about the reasons compelling him to leave Bihar for Delhi. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Hussain Dalwai from Maharashtra claims that if Kumar had not allied with the BJP, he would not be facing the current situation.

NDA leaders assert that the decision to join the Rajya Sabha was made solely by Nitish Kumar, while the opposition accuses the BJP of exerting pressure.

In a conversation in Mumbai, Congress leader Hussain Dalwai stated that Kumar’s alliance with the BJP was a poor decision, the consequences of which he is now facing. He emphasized that Bihar has traditionally embraced socialist ideals. “This has never happened in Bihar before; now the BJP will rule there, and the JD(U) will weaken,” he remarked.

Dalwai suggested that it would have been better for Kumar to collaborate with Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav to govern effectively. Instead, he chose to align with the BJP.

Regarding the recent changes in governors across several states, Dalwai commented that governors should not represent any political party and must act impartially. He criticized the current governors for interfering in states governed by opposition parties, imposing their ideologies. “This is entirely wrong. Governors should consider the realities of their states,” he added, noting that the central government is using governors to extend its political influence.

On the Maharashtra cabinet’s approval of an anti-conversion bill, Dalwai expressed his disapproval, stating that it is inappropriate for the government to dictate personal matters such as marriage. “Young people should decide for themselves. There is no need for conversion. Many Muslim women marry Hindus, and it is incorrect to suggest that only Hindu women marry Muslims. There are also significant Sikh-Hindu marriages. The government’s pressure in this regard is very wrong,” he concluded.
