Tripura Chief Minister Highlights Central Budgets Focus on Development

Agartala, February 7: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stated on Saturday that the Central Budget 2026-27, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, emphasizes development across all sectors, including education, health, defense, and infrastructure.

Addressing the ‘Budget Youth Conference’ organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state youth wing, the Chief Minister remarked that the budget reflects Prime Minister Modi‘s vision for development and underscores the responsibility of every citizen to contribute sincerely to nation-building.

Saha noted that Sitharaman is the only female Finance Minister to have presented the Union Budget nine times consecutively.

He stated, “This budget embodies the Prime Minister’s vision for a developed India by 2047. Each sector has been addressed systematically and distinctly. With this presentation, the central budget has now been presented nearly 80 times. Previously, the railway budget and the general budget were presented separately, but they have been merged since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister.”

The Chief Minister explained that the primary aim of the budget is to outline the country’s income and expenditure while identifying priority areas for development.

Saha added, “The budget sets the direction for development with adequate financial allocations in key sectors like infrastructure and health. This year, approximately 15 percent of the total budget has been allocated to the defense sector.”

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s focus on four major societal groups—youth, farmers, the poor, and women—Saha mentioned that the inclusive development of these groups would eliminate the need for caste-based divisions.

He said, “Considering these four groups, this year’s budget includes several provisions. With a focus on job creation for the youth, the budget envisions creating 3.5 crore jobs through the Prime Minister’s Developed India Employment Scheme.”

Saha also emphasized that the budget prioritizes farmers’ welfare by ensuring fair prices for agricultural products and strengthening infrastructure in the agriculture sector.

The conference was attended by BJP state president and MP Rajiv Bhattacharjee, former MP Rebati Tripura, state youth wing president and MLA Sushant Deb, along with other party leaders and workers.
