The National Pulses Conference will be hosted at the Food Legume Research Center in Amala. This conference is seen as a crucial step towards reducing dependence on pulse imports and enhancing domestic production.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will preside over this high-level meeting, which will also see the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Agriculture ministers from several pulse-producing states, including Odisha, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, will participate in the event.

The conference will focus on increasing production under the National Mission for Pulses Self-Reliance, utilizing new technologies, promoting advanced seed varieties, and providing better market access for farmers. The primary aim is to devise strategies to achieve the goals of a self-reliant India in pulses, prosperous farmers, and a nourished nation.

During the event, Minister Chouhan will tour local farms and engage directly with farmers. Discussions will cover farmers’ challenges, suggestions, and the adoption of new technologies. Additionally, the launch of the Food Legume Research Program (FLRP) facilities and the Pulses Mission Portal will facilitate easy access to data, schemes, and technical information related to pulse production for farmers.

Farmers will also receive advanced seed varieties during the conference. Notably, this platform will bring together farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), seed producers, scientists, and industry representatives to coordinate efforts for the overall development of the pulses sector.
