Mumbai, February 8: The Kurar unit of the Mumbai Police has achieved a significant success in its ongoing campaign against illegal foreign nationals residing in India. Authorities conducted a raid in the Pathanwadi area of Malad East, resulting in the arrest of four Bangladeshi citizens. Reports indicate that these individuals had been living in the country for an extended period using fake identities.
According to police sources, an officer from the Anti-Terror Cell (ATC) at the Kurar police station received information about some Bangladeshi nationals illegally residing in the Pathanwadi area of Malad East. They were reportedly living under false identities with counterfeit documents. Acting on this information, the Kurar police and ATC team launched a joint operation, conducting multiple raids in the area between February 2 and February 6.
During the operation, four suspects were apprehended at the scene. Upon interrogation, all admitted to being citizens of Bangladesh. Initial investigations revealed that they possessed several important documents related to Bangladesh, including permanent residency certificates, citizenship certificates, and a national ID card.
The police investigation has uncovered that all arrested individuals were residing in the Pathanwadi area of Malad East and were engaged in small businesses. According to officials, all suspects had entered India without valid documents and had been living here for a considerable time. Legal action has been initiated against them, and the process of obtaining a ‘Restriction Order’ from the relevant authorities is underway, with deportation procedures to Bangladesh already in motion.
DCP Mahesh Chimte and Senior Police Inspector Sanjeev Tawde oversaw this operation, which is being regarded as a significant success in the fight against illegal immigration.
