Tehran, February 5: Tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate, prompting renewed efforts for dialogue. In this context, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has unveiled a new underground missile base.
According to the Xinhua news agency, the unveiling took place during a visit by Iranian Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi and IRGC Aerospace Division Commander Saeed Majid Mousavi on Wednesday (local time).
The report further indicated that the visit included an assessment of the capabilities and operational readiness of the IRGC’s missile units. Senior commanders of Iran’s security forces were also briefed on the progress of strategic units and current preparations.
Mousavi stated that Iran has successfully upgraded its ballistic missiles in all technical aspects, enhancing its deterrent capabilities.
He remarked, “The country is fully prepared to confront any actions by enemies. Following a 12-day conflict with Israel in June 2025, Iran has significantly altered its military strategy. The military doctrine has shifted from a defensive to an offensive posture, focusing on rapid and extensive operations. Asymmetric warfare methods and decisive, overwhelming military strategies have also been adopted.”
The ongoing tensions between the two nations are attributed to the increased military presence of Washington in the region. Former President Trump has threatened Iran, stating that it must either negotiate with the U.S. or face the risk of an attack.
On Sunday, according to the state news agency IRNA, Mousavi warned that Iran would respond decisively to any U.S. misstep. He emphasized that if the U.S. attacks Iran, it would not only be a conflict with the U.S. but would escalate into a regional war.
He stated, “Any minor mistake will give Iran the freedom to act; then, no American will be safe, and the fire in the region will engulf the U.S. and its allies.”
