Indian Ice Hockey Team Stranded in Mumbai Amid Rising Tensions in West Asia

Mumbai, March 1: Rising tensions in West Asia, following US-Israel attacks on Iran, have led to the cancellation of several international flights at Mumbai Airport, leaving many passengers stranded, including the Indian Ice Hockey team. The team was scheduled to travel to Germany for the European Championship.

Team members expressed their disappointment over the sudden cancellation of their flight. A passenger from Karnataka, who is part of the team, stated that their long-awaited opportunity is now at risk. “I am from Karnataka. We are an Indian team set to participate in the European Ice Hockey Championship. Our flight was unexpectedly canceled due to the war. We are very saddened that we will not be able to take part in the championship,” he said.

According to players and their families, the team has been preparing for this international event for nearly two years. A player’s mother shared her concerns, stating that her son and his teammates were set to represent India in Germany. “My son and his teammates were going to represent the Indian team in ice hockey. Unfortunately, due to the war situation, flights have been canceled. The children have been training for this event for almost two years, practicing until 11 PM every night, hoping to wave the Indian flag at this event. The cancellation of flights has caused great disappointment among the children, parents, and coaches,” she remarked.

In light of the changing geopolitical landscape, airport officials have ramped up coordination efforts, while airlines are issuing advisories regarding potential rescheduling or alternative arrangements for passengers. Many affected travelers at Mumbai Airport have expressed concerns about the uncertainty surrounding their travel plans, as the regional tensions continue to impact international air routes.
