Vadodara, February 5: Delhi Capitals have set a formidable target of 204 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 final at BCA Stadium. Key contributions came from Laura Wolvaardt, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Chinelle Henry, who propelled the Capitals to a significant score.
Winning the toss, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana opted to field first. In response, the Capitals scored 203 runs, losing 4 wickets in their allotted overs.
The opening partnership between Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee provided a strong start, accumulating 49 runs in just 5.5 overs. Shafali scored 20 runs off 13 balls, hitting 3 fours before being dismissed. Following her, Lee added 37 runs, including 3 sixes and 3 fours, in collaboration with Laura Wolvaardt for the second wicket.
Captain Jemimah Rodrigues then partnered with Wolvaardt to build a solid foundation, adding 76 runs for the third wicket in 51 balls. Jemimah scored 57 runs off 37 balls, featuring 8 fours, before her dismissal. Wolvaardt continued the momentum, adding 54 runs with Chinelle Henry, pushing the team past the 200-run mark. Wolvaardt contributed 44 runs with 5 boundaries, while Henry remained unbeaten with 35 runs off 15 balls.
For RCB, Sayali Satghare, Arundhati Reddy, and Nadine de Klerk each took one wicket.
In the final, Delhi Capitals, under the captaincy of Jemimah Rodrigues, fielded a team including wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee, Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp, Chinelle Henry, Nicky Prasad, Sneh Rana, Minnu Mani, Shree Charani, and Nandini Sharma.
