India-U.S. Trade Deal Boosts MSME Sector Opportunities

New Delhi, February 9: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) announced on Sunday that the finalization of the first phase of the India-U.S. trade deal will open new and significant opportunities for India’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the American market.

CAIT stated that this trade deal, achieved under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marks a significant milestone for India. It propels the nation towards becoming a global economic power and is expected to greatly benefit the MSME sector. This agreement enhances India’s reputation as a strong, reliable, and competitive trading partner worldwide.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal noted that several key sectors in India will benefit from this trade deal. These include textiles and ready-made garments, leather and footwear, gems and jewelry, affordable medicines, automobiles and aircraft parts, chemicals, plastic and rubber products, home decor, handicrafts, and certain engineering goods.

He emphasized that improved access to the U.S. market and tariff enhancements will make Indian products more competitive in the world’s largest economy.

Khandelwal remarked that this agreement provides crucial and timely support for the MSME sector, which is the backbone of India’s economy. More export opportunities will enable MSME companies to increase production, expand their businesses internationally, and create new job opportunities for youth and women.

The trade deal will also strengthen the ‘Make in India‘ initiative, as Indian companies become integral parts of the global supply chain.

Khandelwal added that the agreement safeguards India’s national interests, particularly in agriculture and rural areas, indicating that the government’s trade policy is balanced and farmer-friendly.

Overall, this India-U.S. trade agreement is a visionary initiative that will accelerate exports, promote entrepreneurship, and bring India closer to its goals of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) and ‘Developed India.’

CAIT is a leading national organization representing over 90 million traders and more than 40,000 trade associations in the country. Established in 1998, it advocates for the interests of small traders and shopkeepers, acting as a bridge between the government and the trading community to foster the growth of small and medium enterprises.
