New Delhi, February 6: President Droupadi Murmu announced on Friday that India will play a crucial role in leveraging global artificial intelligence expertise and TECHNOLOGY for the benefit of its citizens.
Speaking at the Black Swan Summit in Odisha, Murmu stated, “The government has launched the India AI Mission to enhance AI research in the country. This month, the government will host the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, which will see participation from around 100 countries.”
She further emphasized, “The goal of this summit is not just to view AI as an advanced technology, but to create a strategic tool for inclusive development and access to opportunities for people.”
According to information released by the government earlier this week, the India AI Impact Summit has already registered over 35,000 participants for 2026. More than 500 startups from over 100 countries will take part in 500 sessions.
A statement from the ministry indicated that the India AI Impact Summit, scheduled for February 16-20, 2026, is expected to be the largest of the four global AI summits held to date. It reflects the growing international momentum around responsible, inclusive, and impact-driven artificial intelligence.
The statement also noted that the summit has attracted unprecedented interest, with over 35,000 registrations from countries worldwide. The focus will be on implementing the vision with a clear emphasis on results that matter at the grassroots level.
Governments, industry leaders, researchers, civil society organizations, and international institutions will actively participate in shaping the summit’s agenda. The event is expected to feature participation from over 100 countries, including 15 to 20 heads of state, more than 50 ministers from various nations, and over 40 CEOs from global and Indian companies. Approximately 500 key figures from the global AI ecosystem, including innovators, researchers, and chief technology officers, are also anticipated to attend.
