New Delhi, February 7: Central Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal welcomed the finalization of an interim trade agreement between the United States and India on Saturday. He stated that India is actively expanding its trade relations worldwide. Under this agreement, American tariffs on Indian goods have been reduced to 18 percent.
Minister Meghwal emphasized that India is broadening its trade relationships globally. “We are entering into free trade agreements with several countries. This will attract investment and stimulate our economy. We welcome all such trade agreements and thank those who have worked to make them possible,” he said.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan noted that India’s economic condition is strong, with trade partnerships rapidly expanding. “India’s economy is in a robust position. We have concluded trade agreements with several countries, including New Zealand, the UK, and the US recently. This will provide significant support to Indian industries and businesses,” he remarked.
JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad stated that the framework of the agreement protects India’s interests and offers a substantial opportunity for producers. “The framework of the interim trade agreement clearly safeguards India’s interests. It also addresses allegations made by the opposition. This is a golden opportunity for Indian producers and exporters, as India has now established nine major trade agreements with the world’s largest economies,” he said.
He further expressed hope that this agreement would promote the manufacturing sector and strengthen India’s position as a global economic power.
