Governor Emphasizes Respect and Unity at Mizoram Veterans Rally

Aizawl, February 7: The Governor of Mizoram, General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retired), highlighted the state’s proud tradition of peace, harmony, and mutual respect between citizens and uniformed personnel during a veterans rally on Saturday.

Accompanied by First Lady Bharti Singh, the Governor graced the state-level event held at Lamual Ground, which was also attended by Mizoram’s Home Minister K. Sapdanga.

He remarked that Mizoram’s veterans are among the best-dressed and most disciplined ex-servicemen in India, stating that this exemplifies how a veteran should conduct themselves.

The Governor described the rally as a powerful symbol of mutual respect, trust, cooperation, and goodwill between the public and the armed forces.

Emphasizing that veterans are living examples of selfless service and sacrifice, he recalled how they have ensured the nation’s security by spending long periods away from their families in some of India’s most challenging and remote areas.

General Singh praised the courage, discipline, and dedication shown by veterans in serving the country, noting that these qualities are worth emulating.

He welcomed the arrangements made for the event, including a dedicated medical camp for veterans and their families, as well as a grievance redressal cell to address issues related to pensions, medical facilities, welfare schemes, and rehabilitation matters.

The Governor expressed hope that these initiatives would yield positive outcomes and announced plans for larger and more comprehensive medical camps in the near future.

He reiterated the Mizoram government’s commitment to the welfare of veterans and emphasized that, in the true spirit of Mizoram’s values of selfless service and concern for others, veterans should always be treated with dignity, care, and respect.

Home Minister K. Sapdanga referred to the rally as a grand tribute to the veterans who have sacrificed for the nation, instilling pride and hope across the country.

He paid homage to those who have spent long periods in conflict zones and difficult terrains, always placing duty above all else.

Acknowledging that the people of Mizoram deeply recognize and appreciate the sacrifices of veterans, he urged them to continue setting exemplary standards in civilian life.

He encouraged the youth to draw inspiration from these veterans and strive to become responsible and valuable citizens serving the nation and society. After the formal proceedings, the Governor visited various stalls set up at the rally venue and warmly interacted with the veterans present.

During the event, nine veterans, a family member of a gallantry award winner, and five brave women were honored and provided assistance.
