Beijing, February 7: The third summit on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the military sector took place on February 4 and 5 in A Coruña, Spain.
The summit focused on promoting international peace and security while discussing methods for utilizing military AI responsibly to mitigate risks associated with misuse or system failures.
Li Zhijiang, Deputy Director-General of the Arms Control Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, led the Chinese delegation at the event.
In his speech, Li emphasized that military intelligence is a significant trend in global military development today. He stated that the responsible use of AI in the military is a matter concerning the shared future of humanity and a collective challenge of our time.
China advocates for the international community to uphold a global governance concept based on consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. It also promotes the idea of common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security. The aim is to work together to establish an effective governance mechanism to ensure that AI develops in a direction that benefits human civilization.
Li further noted that as a leading power in the field of artificial intelligence, China places great importance on risk prevention and security governance in military applications of AI, adhering to the concept of “human-centered military artificial intelligence.”
