Legal Battle Threatens Release of Shahid Kapoors O Romeo

Mumbai, February 7: The release of Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri’s film ‘O Romeo‘ is under threat as Sanobar Sheikh, daughter of Hussain Ustara, has filed a petition in court to halt the film’s release.

Sanobar Sheikh expressed her concerns, stating that Shahid Kapoor portrays a character inspired by her father, but the depiction is fundamentally flawed. She remarked, “In the film, my father’s character is shown as aggressive, violent, and misbehaving, which is not accurate. He was a good person who helped others and collaborated with the police to combat crime.”

Sanobar also revealed that her father was provided with a bulletproof vest and licensed weapons, and she possesses evidence to support this.

She first learned about the film months ago when she saw a picture of Shahid Kapoor and was informed about the character. Upon discovering details about the character, she suspected it was based on her father’s story.

Recently, the film’s trailer was released, which Sanobar criticized for misrepresenting nearly all scenes, including depictions of cars, violence, and inappropriate dialogues. She stated, “If this role is indeed based on my father, people will point fingers at me.”

When asked what she wants now, Sanobar replied, “I told them I want to see the film and have the inaccuracies removed. If you don’t want to tell the truth about my father, then don’t use his name. If you present it as fiction, people will still think it’s my father’s story.”

She further explained, “The story shown in the film is entirely different. My father was a film producer. He told me that Hussain, Usma, and Sapna Devi’s story was involved, and he raised Hussain like a sister, yet the film portrays Hussain as my father’s girlfriend. You can see that this story is not real.”

The film is based on Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai.’ Sanobar claims that her father’s story has been distorted. She added, “It has been 28 years since my father passed, but seeing this now is very distressing for the family. We face questions from society. Children ask why this is happening. One cannot tarnish someone’s image in the name of ENTERTAINMENT.”

Regarding Hussain Ustara, Sanobar stated he was a very noble person. Recently, individuals like Pratik Saran praised him for assisting the police and contributing to crime reduction. Sanobar emphasized that being aggressive does not equate to being violent, and her father has been misrepresented as overly aggressive in the film, which is not true.
