New Delhi, February 5: The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Delhi Police‘s Crime Branch has successfully rescued two abducted minors and reunited them with their families. Both children had gone missing from the Mukherjee Nagar and Wazirabad police precincts. This swift action by the police has been praised by the affected families and local law enforcement.
The first case is linked to the Mukherjee Nagar area, where a report was filed on September 6, 2025, regarding a 12-year-old boy with mental health issues who had gone missing. An FIR numbered 52/16 was registered under Section 137(2) of the Indian Penal Code 2023. Given the sensitivity of the case, the investigation was handed over to the AHTU. A special team led by Inspector Mukesh Kumar and ASI Ajay Kumar Jha, under the supervision of ACP/AHTU Suresh Kumar, conducted extensive efforts. They reviewed local CCTV footage, conducted inquiries, performed technical analysis, shared information about the child on social media, and interviewed family members and relatives.
The investigation revealed that the boy had been living in a rented accommodation in Nirankari Colony, Delhi. He worked as a vehicle cleaner during the day and as a security guard at night. Due to his mental condition, he wandered off while playing and ended up lost at the Anand Vihar bus terminal. The police team successfully located and rescued him.
In the second case from the Wazirabad area, a report about a missing 15-year-old was filed on January 22, 2026. An FIR numbered 40/26 was registered on January 24, 2026, under Section 137(2). This case was also investigated by the AHTU. A team led by Inspector Mukesh Kumar, ASI Mahesh, and Head Constable Naresh Kumar, under ACP/AHTU Suresh Kumar’s oversight, conducted a thorough inquiry. They performed local questioning, technical surveillance, and interviewed family members. Based on specific information provided by ASI Mahesh, the boy was safely recovered from the Azadpur vegetable market in Delhi on February 4.
The investigation revealed that the minor had left home after a disagreement with family members and had gone to stay with his aunt. Both minors have been safely returned to their respective families, and the timely actions of the police not only ensured the children’s safe return but also alleviated the pressure on law and order in the area. The swift and sensitive actions of the Delhi Police have been warmly appreciated by the affected families.
