New Delhi, February 6: The film ‘Godaan’ has been released in theaters on February 6, but calls for its ban are rapidly increasing.
The Congress party has been consistently demanding a ban on the film, accusing it of spreading hatred and discrimination in society. In response, Vinod Bansal, the national spokesperson for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has advised Congress to reflect on its past and suggested they should apologize.
Bansal stated, “The image of Congress has already been tarnished due to attacks on unarmed devotees. This was evident during the horrific incident near the Delhi Vote Club on November 7, 1966, during Indira Gandhi’s regime. The entire nation was ashamed. Why hasn’t Congress apologized for this yet? I remind you that it was a dark day in India’s history when a large crowd gathered at the Vote Club, which included cow devotees and the revered cow itself. Many devotees and cows were shot at during that time, and there are no records of how many were affected.”
He further added that there is information indicating that several cow devotees and saints were taken to undisclosed locations and shot. Instead of demanding a ban on ‘Godaan’, Congress should apologize for its past actions. Additionally, Parliament should ensure that the rights and respect of cows are restored, and a nationwide ban on cow slaughter should be enforced.
Previously, Congress leaders have been vocal about their demand to ban the film. Muslim religious leaders have also expressed their concerns regarding the film. Senior Congress leader Anshu Awasthi and party spokesperson Poonam Pandit from Uttar Pradesh have registered their protests against the film.
It is noteworthy that the producers of ‘Godaan’ are Vinod Kumar Chaudhary and Parul Chaudhary, with Chetan Goswami serving as the co-producer. The film is directed by Amit Prajapati.
