Controversy Erupts Over Neeraj Pandeys Film Ghooskhore Pandit

Mumbai, February 7: The film ‘Ghooskhore Pandit,’ directed by Neeraj Pandey, is facing significant backlash. Protests against the film are widespread, prompting the makers to remove all promotional materials from OTT platforms.

In the midst of this turmoil, B.N. Tiwari, president of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, has voiced his opposition to the film, suggesting that OTT platforms should implement censorship. He also shared his thoughts on the recent shooting incident at director Rohit Shetty’s residence.

Tiwari stated, “Repeated attempts have been made to target Salman Khan, and the reasons behind those attacks remain unclear. Now, such incidents occurring in Juhu, an area populated by major stars, are unacceptable. The Mumbai police are failing in their duties, putting everyone at risk. The government talks only about elections, neglecting public safety. They must focus on ensuring the safety of citizens.”

He added, “Our federation is preparing to take a stand on security issues. We will soon meet with the labor minister to discuss the safety of artists. If no one is safe in a place like Mumbai, where can anyone feel secure in the country?”

Regarding the uproar over ‘Ghooskhore Pandit,’ Tiwari remarked, “The film’s title targets and accuses the Brahmin community. If it were about a specific individual, it would be understandable, but the title seems to defame all priests, which is justifiable grounds for offense. The federation opposes such portrayals and will take strict action if necessary.”

He continued, “Films have been made in the past, but times have changed with the advent of social media. Major OTT platforms like Netflix should scrutinize such titles. It’s essential to address contradictions and controversies that arise from them. The producers and director should consider the implications of the films they create, as this title casts aspersions on an entire community.”
