Mumbai, February 6: The title of Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming film, “Ghooskhore Pandit,” is stirring significant controversy across various segments of society. Religious leaders and political figures alike are expressing their discontent with the film’s title. Notable voices against it include BJP MP and actor Manoj Tiwari, Acharya Pramod Krishnam, and Shia cleric Maulana Saif Abbas, all of whom have openly condemned the title.
BJP MP and artist Manoj Tiwari reacted to the uproar, stating, “It is natural for there to be opposition to the film ‘Ghooskhore Pandit.’ No one, whether a Brahmin, Thakur, or from any other community, should tolerate such derogatory terms. The Constitution of India does not permit the use of casteist language against any individual or community.”
Tiwari emphasized, “If the film’s name and content hurt the sentiments of any community, strict action should be taken against the filmmakers.”
Acharya Pramod Krishnam also voiced strong criticism regarding the film’s title, declaring, “In my view, naming a film ‘Ghooskhore Pandit’ is akin to sin. Targeting any community deliberately to create a film is divisive to society. Some individuals aim to create divisions by exploiting caste, and this film could be part of such conspiracies.”
Shia cleric Maulana Saif Abbas took a firm stance on the issue as well. He stated, “Films targeting a specific religion or community should be completely banned. It is regrettable how attempts are being made to create a divisive atmosphere in the country for cheap popularity and publicity. I urge the Indian government to impose an immediate ban on this film.”
He further added, “Previously, films aimed to entertain while also delivering positive messages to society. Now, some individuals resort to such controversial methods merely to stay in the limelight and gain publicity. Such films do more harm than good, deteriorating the atmosphere of brotherhood in the country.”
