Mumbai, February 7: The iconic film ‘Rang De Basanti’, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, has reached a significant milestone, marking 20 years since its release in 2006. This multi-starrer not only created waves at the box office but also resonated deeply with the youth. To commemorate this special occasion, the film’s cast and crew hosted a celebration party and special screening in Mumbai.
The celebration saw the attendance of notable actors including Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Siddharth, Sharman Joshi, and Kunal Kapoor. However, actor R. Madhavan was unable to join the reunion, expressing his disappointment. He took to Instagram to share his feelings about missing the event.
Madhavan posted a picture of the team in his Instagram Stories, stating, “I feel really bad. I had planned to attend this party since it was supposed to happen a week ago, but it got postponed. I was traveling during that time, so I missed the special screening and reunion.”
He also shared nostalgic photos from his time on the film, emphasizing its special significance to him. On the film’s 20th anniversary, Soha Ali Khan also shared throwback images on social media featuring the entire cast together.
‘Rang De Basanti’ effectively portrayed themes of patriotism, friendship, and youth revolution, leaving a lasting impact on audiences. The film featured prominent roles by Aamir Khan, Siddharth, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, Kirron Kher, R. Madhavan, Waheeda Rehman, and Soha Ali Khan.
It took a total of seven years of research to bring ‘Rang De Basanti’ to the screen. The film was a box office success, grossing over ₹100 crores, making it one of the highest-grossing films of its time.
Not only did it win the hearts of viewers, but it also made a significant mark on social issues. The film received a National Film Award and was nominated for BAFTA Awards. Additionally, it was submitted by India for consideration at the Oscars and Golden Globes.
