Beijing, February 7: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a new strategy on Friday aimed at advancing electric vehicle (EV) development. This initiative will provide robust support through grants, financial subsidies, and tax incentives. Additionally, Canada plans to collaborate with China to enhance domestic production and export of electric vehicles.
Under this strategy, Canada will launch a five-year, CAD 2.3 billion “Electric Vehicle Capability Program,” which will offer subsidies to eligible consumers. The government aims to achieve 90% accessibility to electric vehicles by 2040 while strictly enforcing greenhouse gas emission standards.
Furthermore, the Canadian government will allocate over CAD 3 billion in grants to assist in transforming the automotive industry. It will invest CAD 1.5 billion to expand the national electric vehicle charging network and implement tax reduction policies to encourage investments in clean technology and the electric vehicle sector.
