Bihars Dairy Initiative Aims to Boost Rural Employment and Income

Patna, February 7: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar believes that the growth of the dairy industry in the state will create new job opportunities in rural areas and increase income for local residents. He stated that the formation of milk production committees in villages will enhance the earnings of livestock farmers and improve the availability of milk in the state.

On Saturday, Kumar shared this information on the social networking site X, writing, “Under the third resolution of the Seven Resolves-3, titled ‘Progress in Agriculture – Prosperity in the State,’ we have decided to establish milk production committees in every village to ensure fair prices for milk producers.”

He further noted that out of a total of 39,073 villages in the state, milk production committees have already been established in 25,593 villages. The Animal and Fisheries Resources Department has been instructed to form committees in the remaining villages within the next two years. This initiative is expected to boost farmers’ incomes and increase milk availability across the state.

Kumar mentioned that under the Seven Resolves-2, Sudha milk sales centers have been set up in all blocks of the state. Now, under Seven Resolves-3, the decision has been made to establish Sudha milk sales centers in all panchayats. Currently, 100 out of 8,053 panchayats have these centers, with plans to open the remaining 7,953 centers by the end of the fiscal year 2026-27.

He emphasized that priority will be given to allocate new Sudha milk sales centers in panchayats to women beneficiaries of the Chief Minister’s Employment Scheme. This move is expected to promote women’s entrepreneurship in rural areas.

Kumar expressed optimism that the expansion of the dairy BUSINESS will create new job opportunities in villages, enhance income, and ensure the availability of milk and dairy products. This initiative aims to strengthen the rural economy and improve the quality of life for the residents of Bihar.
