The festival is particularly auspicious this year as it coincides with a Sunday, enhancing the benefits of the rituals performed.
On Bhanu Saptami, also known as Ravi Saptami or Rath Saptami, devotees engage in prayers, chanting, and charitable acts. It is believed that honoring the Sun God on this day leads to good health, the removal of ailments, and the overcoming of life’s obstacles. Additionally, it is said to bring prosperity in business and harmony within families.
The Panchang for February 8 indicates that sunrise will occur at 7:05 AM, while sunset will be at 6:06 PM. The Krishna Paksha’s seventh tithi will last until 5:01 AM on February 9. The Swati Nakshatra will prevail, and the auspicious yoga will be Ganda.
The ideal time for offering Arghya to the Sun God is at sunrise. Brahma Muhurat will be from 5:21 AM to 6:13 AM, Abhijit Muhurat from 12:13 PM to 12:57 PM, and Vijay Muhurat from 2:26 PM to 3:10 PM, all considered highly favorable.
Devotees are advised to fill a copper pot with water, adding red flowers, red sandalwood, or roli, and rice. Wearing red clothing is deemed auspicious.
