Jammu, February 6: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting on Friday to assess the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials reported that the meeting included Jammu and Kashmir‘s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma, General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Director General of the Border Security Force Praveen Kumar, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force G.P. Singh, and other senior military, police, civilian, and intelligence officials.
This top-level security review comes in the wake of nearly a dozen encounters in the Jammu region’s Kathua, Udhampur, and Kishtwar districts, resulting in the elimination of four Pakistani-origin terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) during swift anti-terror operations.
This is the second security review meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister within a month. On January 8, he led a similar high-level meeting in Delhi, directing that anti-terror operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and financing continue in ‘mission mode.’
He also assured that all resources would be made available to achieve the goal of making Jammu and Kashmir free from terrorism as soon as possible.
Officials noted that the meeting commenced immediately after Shah’s return from the Hiranagar sector in Kathua district, where he visited border posts and addressed BSF personnel.
The meeting reviewed ongoing anti-terror operations and the infiltration prevention grid, along with discussions on measures taken to counter cross-border drone activities.
