Jalandhar, February 6: In a shocking incident, Lucky Oborai, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was shot dead on Friday in Jalandhar, Punjab. The attack occurred outside the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Model Town, where unidentified assailants opened fire on him.
Reports indicate that the attackers fired multiple shots, hitting Oborai with approximately five bullets. He was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Following the incident, a climate of fear has enveloped Jalandhar city. Police arrived at the scene promptly and cordoned off the area to initiate an investigation.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the assailants. Special teams have been formed to track down and arrest those responsible for the attack.
It is noteworthy that Lucky Oborai’s wife had contested the municipal elections on behalf of the AAP, although she faced defeat. Oborai was known to be close to Rajwinder Kaur Theada, the in-charge of the Cantt constituency, and played an active role within the party’s organization.
Senior police officials arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting. ADC Investigation Jayant Pari confirmed that Oborai had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and emphasized that the shooting was carried out by unidentified attackers. He stated that a thorough investigation is underway, taking all aspects into account.
According to police, they are exploring various angles to determine the motives behind the attack, including political rivalry and personal enmity. Authorities have expressed confidence in apprehending the suspects soon.
