New Delhi, February 8: Amid escalating protests against Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has announced the conclusion of its week-long campaign, dubbed ‘Operation Heroof-2.’ The organization claims that its objectives have been successfully achieved.
In an official statement, the BLA reported that Baloch fighters launched simultaneous attacks across several cities and towns, resulting in significant losses for the Pakistani military.
According to a report by The Balochistan Post (TBP), this coordinated urban campaign spanned over 14 cities in Balochistan and has been described as the largest, most intense, and organized military operation in the BLA’s history.
Citing BLA spokesperson Ziyand Baloch, the report stated that Baloch fighters executed multiple attacks at various locations, establishing temporary control over security checkpoints, military bases, and some urban areas. The organization claims that in certain cities, BLA units held their ground for six consecutive days, forcing Pakistani security forces to retreat.
The TBP report, referencing BLA officials, claimed that over 362 members of the Pakistani security forces were killed during the operation. This figure reportedly includes personnel from the Pakistani army, Frontier Corps, police, and alleged state-backed armed groups.
The BLA spokesperson also asserted that the organization had detained 17 Pakistani security personnel, who were later released. He indicated that actions would be taken against the remaining detainees concerning alleged war crimes and genocide.
Reiterating the objectives of ‘Heroof-2,’ the spokesperson did not rule out the possibility of future armed operations. He stated, “The first objective was to demonstrate that Baloch fighters have the capability to attack urban centers and establish control there. The second was to convey to the Baloch people that resistance is based on collective trust and organizational strength. The third objective was to challenge the alleged unquestioned dominance of Pakistani forces in Balochistan.”
