
Itanagar, February 8: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General (Retd) K.T. Parnaik, emphasized the urgent need for timely implementation of welfare schemes for veterans across the state. He called for prompt financial assistance and an effective grievance redressal mechanism.
During a review meeting at Lok Bhawan with Air Commodore R.D. Mosabi (Retd), the Director-cum-Secretary of the state soldier board, the Governor assessed the welfare measures undertaken by the board.
He engaged in detailed discussions regarding the welfare, rehabilitation, and employment support for veterans and their dependents, as well as the importance of effective coordination with armed forces and government agencies.
Expressing concern for his fellow veterans, the Governor underscored the state’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of veterans, Veer Naris, and their families through timely implementation of welfare programs, financial aid, and swift grievance resolution.
He also suggested organizing rallies for veterans in collaboration with Indian Armed Forces units stationed in Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative aims to reach a broader audience and ensure direct engagement with the community.
The Governor called for concrete and results-oriented measures to assist veterans through skill development, employment facilitation, and guidance for self-employment.
He advised the State Soldier Board to function as a robust coordination platform among the armed forces, state government, district soldier boards, and the central soldier board. This would ensure effective policy implementation and meaningful outreach to the veteran community.
In a related event, the Governor of Mizoram, General (Retd) Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, attended a state-level veterans rally at Lammual Ground in Aizawl, accompanied by First Lady Bharti Singh. Mizoram’s Home Minister K. Sapdanga also participated, highlighting the state’s proud tradition of peace, harmony, and mutual respect between citizens and uniformed personnel.
The Governor described the rally as a powerful reflection of mutual respect, trust, cooperation, and goodwill between the public and the armed forces.
