Tirupur, February 8: A significant corporate social responsibility (CSR) conclave was held today at the district collectorate in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. The event was chaired by Dr. Naraware Manish Shankarrao, IAS, the district collector of Tirupur.
The primary aim of the conclave was to coordinate CSR activities among industries, government departments, and social organizations, enhancing contributions to the district’s development. Notable attendees included Sumita Roshan from the Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA), Shrutika Setu Madhavan, chairperson of the Women Empowerment Subcommittee, and Vishnu Prabhu, Joint Managing Director of KM Knitwear Private Limited.
During the event, Collector Dr. Naraware Manish Shankarrao launched the logo of the Tirupur District Welfare Society and initiated its formal registration. He announced that the society’s website would soon be launched, featuring sector-wise details. These sectors include forest conservation, healthcare, tribal welfare, support for backward and minority communities, anganwadi centers, education, municipal services, police, and welfare for the physically disabled.
Sumita Roshan highlighted the TEA’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities, noting that under the leadership of Padma Shri Dr. A. Shaktivel (Honorary President) and K.M. Subramaniam (President), the association continues to contribute to society and will maintain these efforts in the future.
Vishnu Prabhu mentioned the demand for certification from European buyers and requested the district administration to issue certificates for CSR contributions, ensuring that industries’ social efforts gain international recognition.
The collector emphasized that CSR is not a one-time investment but a long-term partnership that yields ongoing benefits. He also presented awards to organizations and companies contributing to various initiatives by the Tirupur district administration. The Tirupur Exporters Association and KM Knitwear Private Limited were specifically honored for their outstanding contributions.
The event was attended by M.P. Amit, IAS, Commissioner of Tirupur Corporation, Deputy Revenue Officer Karthigai Vasan, General Manager of the District Industries Center, and other government officials and industry representatives. This conclave symbolizes a strong partnership between Tirupur’s textile industry and the district administration.
