Major E-Commerce Fraud Ring Busted in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, February 8: The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has uncovered a notorious interstate gang that defrauded major e-commerce companies like Flipkart and Amazon. This gang infiltrated courier and delivery systems, swapping expensive electronic goods with counterfeit products.

In a decisive operation, police arrested five key members of the gang and seized goods, tools, and a vehicle valued at approximately ₹20.52 lakh.

According to police, the accused recruited accomplices as delivery boys in cities such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Jalore in Rajasthan. They placed online orders for high-end mobile phones and gadgets using fake user IDs and passwords. An insider would intercept these deliveries before they reached the customer.

The gang then opened the packages with specialized tools, removing the genuine items and replacing them with fakes. They later canceled or returned the orders, selling the authentic products on the black market.

A case has been registered at the DCB police station. Among the arrested are Ramlal alias Romi Gehlot and Manoj Kumar Mali from Jalore, Bharat Kumar Sundesha, Vishal Hasmukhbhai Panchal from Surat, and Vishal Kanjibhai Bawri from Ahmedabad, while two suspects remain at large.

The Crime Branch has confiscated eight genuine mobile phones, 25 counterfeit mobiles, fake earbuds, a gaming processor, tools used in the fraud, and a Mahindra Scorpio. During interrogation, the suspects admitted to executing several similar incidents in Vadodara, Surat, and Jalore over the past few months. Police stated that strict action against e-commerce fraud will continue to ensure the security of digital transactions.
