Mumbai, February 7: The opening day box office collection is a key indicator of audience interest in new films. In this context, two major releases, ‘Vadh 2’ and ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run’, have made their debut at the box office.
According to early figures from Sacnilk, ‘Vadh 2’ has garnered approximately ₹5 million on its first day, while ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!’ managed to collect only ₹2.5 million.
‘Vadh 2’ is the sequel to last year’s hit crime thriller ‘Vadh’. The story revolves around police officer Shambhu Nath Mishra (Sanjay Mishra) and his wife Manju (Neena Gupta), who are serving long prison sentences. Shambhu Nath resorts to stealing vegetables from prison to pay for his son’s education and settle debts, while Manju spends her life behind bars. The narrative also highlights the harsh realities of prison life, corruption, and caste discrimination.
The film’s plot thickens with the complex relationship between a troublesome inmate Keshav (Akshay Dogra) and female prisoner Naina (Yogita Bihani). Directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu, the film is presented with a sensitive touch, keeping the audience engaged through twists and suspense.
On the other hand, ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!’ is based on the long-running popular sitcom. It features familiar characters like Angoori Bhabhi, Vibhuti Mishra, Tiwari, and Anita. The film opens with these well-known characters from the TV series. The plot showcases Vibhuti Mishra (Asif Sheikh) taking his neighbor Angoori Bhabhi (Shubhangi Atre) to Uttarakhand. As in the series, Vibhuti and Tiwari are always eyeing each other’s wives, but the film amplifies this rivalry with more drama and flair.
New characters are introduced, including Shanti (Ravi Kishan), a strongman who falls for Angoori Bhabhi, and his brother Kranti (Mukesh Tiwari), who pursues Anita Bhabhi. The storyline promises to entertain audiences thoroughly.
