Mumbai, February 4: Renowned actor Sonu Sood is known for voicing his opinions on various issues, and he has once again raised concerns about children’s safety. On Wednesday, he took to Instagram to advocate for a strict ban on social media and online gaming for children under 16 years of age.
In a note shared on his Instagram Stories, Sood expressed his distress over the recent tragedy in Ghaziabad, where three young girls lost their lives. He stated, “These children did not fall victim to violence or poverty; they succumbed to the pressures of online gaming and digital addiction.”
He reiterated his stance, saying, “I have spoken about this issue before, and I am saying it again: there should be a ban on social media and online gaming for children under 16, except for educational purposes.”
Sood emphasized that children need guidance in their formative years, not algorithms. He remarked, “Children require love and care, not constant screen time.”
The actor believes that the use of phones and the internet by children should be highly restricted and that new legislation is necessary. He concluded his note with a call to action, stating, “This is not about blaming anyone; it’s about saving our children. If we don’t act now, it will be too late. This incident should not just be a news story; it’s time to take action.”
This is not the first time Sood has addressed this issue. He previously commented on Australia’s decision to ban several platforms for children, advocating for similar laws in India.
