
New Delhi, February 9: The police claim to have solved a burglary case involving over ₹30 lakh in Dwarka. A woman has been arrested in connection with the theft. On Monday, authorities reported that the woman was apprehended for stealing cash and jewelry from the owner’s residence, with the stolen items recovered in her possession.
During the operation, police seized approximately 190 grams of gold jewelry worth around ₹30 lakh, two silver coins valued at ₹4,000, and ₹18,000 in cash from the accused. Investigations revealed that the woman worked in the same house and took advantage of an opportunity to steal the valuables.
According to Dwarka district police, the case was registered following a complaint received on February 1. The complainant, Amit Lochav, reported the theft of gold jewelry and cash from his home, implicating the female domestic worker in his statement.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was filed at the Dwarka Sector-23 police station under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A team was formed to investigate the matter, and the police began searching for the maid.
Acting on a tip-off, police discovered that the maid, Jyoti, was residing in Issapur Khera village under the jurisdiction of the Kapashera police station in Delhi. A raid was conducted at her residence, leading to the recovery of the stolen gold jewelry.
The recovered items included four gold bangles (approximately 80 grams), two gold bracelets (approximately 50 grams), one gold chain (approximately 25 grams), one gold and platinum bracelet (approximately 20 grams), three gold rings (approximately 18 grams), one pair of gold earrings (approximately 5 grams), two silver coins (approximately 20 grams), and ₹18,000 in cash. The Delhi police are currently engaged in further proceedings.
