Chennai, February 9: Tamil Nadu is expected to experience weather changes in several districts over the next few days. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted light fog in the mornings, which may reduce visibility during the early hours. However, most of the state will remain dry, with a gradual increase in temperatures.
According to the forecast, foggy conditions are likely to persist in many northern and western districts until February 12. Areas such as Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Dindigul, and Nilgiri may see light fog in the early mornings, potentially affecting road travel and daily commutes.
Drivers, especially those using highways and hilly roads, are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility. Light to moderate fog is also expected in Chennai and its neighboring districts of Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kanchipuram.
In Chennai city, partial cloud cover is anticipated, with some areas experiencing light fog in the morning. Despite the fog, the overall weather in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal is expected to remain mostly dry until February 14, with the weather department ruling out any rainfall, indicating stable atmospheric conditions in the region.
Meanwhile, a gradual rise in daytime temperatures is forecasted. In some parts of the state, maximum temperatures could increase by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius by February 12, leading to warmer afternoons.
Weather experts have noted that such fluctuations are common at the beginning of the year, as clear skies during the day lead to rising heat, while cold nights result in morning fog.
Health officials have advised the public to avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight during the afternoon. Elderly individuals, children, and those working outdoors are urged to take extra precautions.
