Mumbai, February 5: In today’s fast-paced world, maintaining health has become a significant challenge. Film director and producer Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri recently shared his personal strategies for staying fit.
In an exclusive interview, he revealed that he follows a minimalist lifestyle, which he scientifically refers to as “Sattvic Life.” He emphasized that being Sattvic is not merely about religious practices or dietary choices, but rather about maintaining a body free from inflammation.
Vivek explained, “Sattvic food and lifestyle are those that are most beneficial for your body. Consuming spicy, oily, or heavily seasoned foods increases stress and inflammation. Therefore, I opt for simple, natural choices.”
He elaborated that the true meaning of Sattvic is scientific. He adheres to a fully plant-based diet, primarily consisting of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. Vivek stated, “Top doctors and Nobel Prize winners have researched this. Peer-reviewed studies spanning 40 years indicate that plant-based foods are the healthiest. I follow this as closely as possible. If I can’t find such food, I prefer to fast instead of eating.”
He also clarified the true essence of Patanjali Yoga, explaining that the term ‘asana’ refers to being in the most comfortable position. “In life, we should choose the situations that are most comfortable for us. I operate on two principles: Sattvic life and comfortable being. This has significantly reduced my needs.”
Another key aspect of his health regimen is intermittent fasting. Vivek mentioned, “This has been a tradition in my family—eating dinner early and not consuming anything until late morning. This gives the body a 12-16 hour rest. I do this naturally, which is why I skip breakfast.”
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of mental control for maintaining health. Vivek clarified his minimalist philosophy, stating, “I now only buy what is necessary, not for filling my wardrobe or for decoration. My only weakness is books. I have many, as people send them to me and I buy them myself. However, I am now sharing them. I’ve donated many children’s books. If anyone needs books, they can write to me; I’m happy to give them away.”
